DA: Lynn Officer Justified In Using Lethal Force

Investigators say a Lynn police officer was justified when he shot and killed an Iraq War veteran who had grabbed another officer's gun and fired two shots.

The Essex district attorney's office said Tuesday that Officer Joshua Hilton was justified in using lethal force when he shot Denis Reynoso last September after Reynoso put the lives of three officers in "imminent danger" after he snatched a weapon from an officer's worn holster.

Police responded to a Lynn apartment complex for reports of a man behaving irrationally. The 29-year-old Reynoso grabbed the gun during a struggle. He died at a hospital.

Authorities say Reynoso had served in Iraq while with the National Guard in 2007 and 2008 and had been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder.

Reynoso was a father of two.
