Republican Shores Challenges Mass. U.S. Rep. Keating

Another Republican is jumping into the race to unseat incumbent Democratic U.S. Rep. William Keating.

Daniel Shores announced Tuesday that he's seeking the GOP nomination in Massachusetts' 9th Congressional District.

Shores runs a private law practice in Sandwich and specializes in providing legal services to small and medium-sized businesses. He graduated from the Georgetown University Law Center and served as an Americorps volunteer.

Shores, whose first job was weeding a cranberry bog, also attended the University of New Hampshire, earning a degree in mechanical engineering.

Fellow Republican John Chapman, former administration official for Gov. Mitt Romney, has already announced his candidacy for the seat held by Keating.

Keating is seen as one of the more vulnerable members of the state's all-Democratic congressional delegation.
