New Storm Set To Bring More Snow To Boston

A new winter storm is looming for Massachusetts this weekend.

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning, beginning Saturday morning, for eastern Massachusetts along and east of the Interstate 95 corridor, including the Boston area. A blizzard watch has been issued for coastal areas of the North Shore and Plymouth County, Cape Cod and nearby islands, where winds up to 35 mph could gust to 50 mph.

According to meteorologist David Epstein, the Plymouth area and south could see around a foot of snow, with smaller accumulations north and west. He predicts 4 to 7 inches of snow falling in a band around Boston.

"The snow will begin right around the noon hour over Cape Cod and spread into Boston between 1 and 2 o'clock [Saturday] afternoon," Epstein told WBUR. "It will end [Saturday] night between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m."

Lighter amounts are expected in central and western Massachusetts, where around a foot of snow fell during Thursday's storm.

Epstein expects a return to blustery and cold conditions for Sunday.
