Wintry Mix In Western Mass. Causes Headaches

Sleet and snow caused traffic headaches in western Massachusetts, while heavy rains in the eastern part of the state caused flooding and sinkholes.

State police are reporting numerous spinouts and accidents on major highways around Springfield, causing long delays and difficult commutes.

Accidents have been reported on I-91, I-291, and the Massachusetts Turnpike.

Due to the conditions, the speed limit on the Mass Pike between the New York line and Exit 8 in Palmer is reduced to 40 miles per hour.

A sinkhole that opened up on Route 4 in Chelmsford on Sunday is expected to keep the road closed for several days.
