Portraits Of Boston: 'We Skype Every Night'

“I’m from New York City, and I go to school in Boston. She is from L.A. and goes to school in Washington, so our paths don’t cross at all.”

“Is it working out for you?”

“It is. It’s like the ‘absence makes the heart go fonder’ saying. We Skype every night. Skype has worked wonders for our relationship.”

“How did you meet?”

“We had mutual friends, and then we started talking on social media and then kept texting and talking. It was one of those cases where you just enjoy the conversation. I feel that if you are not with the person and you just talk to them, you get to know them better that way. It becomes more of a mental than a physical thing. I think that’s most important when you are trying to develop a relationship with somebody. A lot of people get caught up in the physical part and that’s what eventually breaks it off because they lack the mental foundation.”
