More autonomy in public schools in Boston could help improve their performance. That's one finding in a new report from the Boston Foundation, which was done at the school district's request. It also says schools should act more like charter schools and be freed of requirements laid out in teachers' union contracts.

Boston Foundation President Paul Grogan joined WBUR's Morning Edition to discuss the new report.

This segment aired on June 3, 2014.
