Arlington Rape Suspect Held Without Bail

A registered sex offender charged with breaking into an Arlington's woman home and raping her at knifepoint will continue to be held without bail.

A dangerousness hearing for 45-year-old Essie Billingslea was scheduled for Friday in Cambridge District Court, but he waived it.

His court-appointed lawyer had no comment.

Billingslea faces charges including aggravated rape, kidnapping and home invasion for allegedly attacking the woman last Sunday. Police interrupted after being alerted by the woman's friend who had received suspicious phone calls from her. The suspect was tackled as he fled.

Billingslea is a Level 3 sex offender, considered the most likely to re-offend, for child rape convictions in 1989 and 1995, according to the state Sex Offender Registry Board.

He's due in court again July 2.
