Forecast: Rain Ahead This Week

After a spectacular weekend of weather we have an unsettled work week of meteorological challenges. There won’t be any days of full rain this week, but we have several days with showers in the forecast.

This morning there is an area of rain over extreme western New England and some of this will likely hold together as it moves to the east. This means there is a risk of showers, even in Boston, later this morning and early afternoon. Some of you may never see any rain as the area of showers tends to diminish as it moves east and part of the area passes south into Connecticut.

Once this area leaves, we will be left with mostly cloudy skies and some sunny breaks. Highs this week won’t be as warm as the weekend and, while some inland areas could certainly hit 80 this afternoon with enough sunshine, most areas will stay in the 70s.

Tomorrow, as a weather front moves through, more showers are possible. Again, like today, not everyone will get the same amount of rain and there will still be the opportunity for some sunshine.

There is a break from the possibility of showers in the middle of the week as high pressure builds, ever so briefly, in the area. After that another front will approach for Thursday and Friday with some humidity and showers. Some of these showers could be heavier as the air will contain more moisture. If everything stays moving we will clear out for the weekend and have a nice day for Father’s Day on Sunday.

Although some areas did reach the upper 80s yesterday this will not be a warm week, and I still don’t see any prolonged heat or humidity in our immediate future.

Monday: A blend of clouds and some sunshine. A period of showers likely in many areas but not everyone gets wet. Highs of 75 to 80.

Monday night: Lots of clouds and a bit muggy. Lows of 58 to 63.

Tuesday: Mostly cloudy with another period of showers. Highs in the lower to mid 70s.

Wednesday: Partly sunny and cooler. Highs near 70 at the coast to 74 inland.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy with some showers in the afternoon. Highs of 71 to 76.

Friday: A few showers with highs in the 70s.

Weekend: Warmer with fewer showers.
