Forecast: Sunny And Warm, Ideal For Beach Enthusiasts

If you're headed to the beach this weekend, leave early.

This weekend's weather looks great for beach-goers, and many people will likely take full advantage of it. High pressure building into southern New England this morning is also bringing with it a beautiful stretch of fine summer weather. The humidity felt yesterday has been pushed out to sea and far to the south.

Yesterday afternoon, as marine air moved in from the Atlantic, it turned quite chilly along the coast with the east wind.

Today, winds will be light, so there can be sea breezes along the coast. The difference in temperatures from places like Logan Airport, Rockport, Scituate, Buzzards Bay and Chatham will be 5-10 degrees cooler than their inland counterparts west of Route 128. Most inland spots will reach 80 degrees this afternoon, while temperatures remain in the 70s along the coast. The coolest readings will be right at the water.

Overnight looks to be another comfortable night for sleeping. Lows will be mostly in the 50s. Even Boston will end up with perfect sleeping conditions, with temperatures hitting 59 degrees by morning.

Both Saturday and Sunday feature an abundance of sunshine and warm readings. It will be in the 80s inland and along parts of the coastline, especially Sunday. On Saturday, highs over the south side of the Cape will remain in the 70s.

Tides are high on either side of noon this weekend for most Atlantic beaches, but check your local beach for the exact time. Water temperatures are still rather cool — mostly in the 60s — but will be warming up Sunday as a southerly flow brings milder water towards the shoreline.

Next week the humidity does return along with very warm readings in the 80s. I don't see any extended heat spells right now. Another front is approaching and likely to stick around the middle-to-end of next week, bringing drier air back. Have a great weekend.

Friday: Sunny. Highs between 75-80, with temperatures warmest away from the coast.

Friday night: Clear and quite cool. Lows between 49-53 degrees inland and 54-59 degrees at the coast.

Saturday: Sunny and warm. Highs between 80-84 degrees, cooler at the beaches.

Sunday: Mostly sunny and warm. Highs in the mid-80s and in the 70s near the Cape and the Islands.

Monday: Mostly sunny with highs again in the mid-80s, but with cooler temperatures at the Cape and the Islands.

Tuesday: A blend of clouds and sunshine. Warm and more humid in the afternoon. Highs between 83-88 degrees. Highs between 76-82 degrees for the Cape and the Islands.
