Fire Destroys House Under Construction In Beverly

Investigators say a wind-whipped fire that destroyed two houses under construction and damaged six others in Beverly was intentionally set.

Jennifer Mieth, a spokeswoman for state Fire Marshal Stephen Coan, said Monday that investigators have determined that the Sunday night fire was arson.

Mieth said the blaze started in one unfinished house and spread to another house under construction. She said those two homes were destroyed. Six occupied houses also were damaged, one heavily. One motor vehicle was also destroyed. No one was injured.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to call the arson hotline, 1-800-682-9229.
