3rd Person Convicted In Taunton Teen's Death

A third person has been convicted of murder in connection with the 2010 beating and stabbing death of a 17-year-old Taunton youth.

Etnid Lopez, of Taunton, was convicted Wednesday in Fall River Superior Court of first-degree murder for the June 2010 slaying of Tigan Hollingsworth.

Authorities say Hollingsworth was stabbed 13 times by the now 22-year-old Lopez after he was chased from a Taunton convenience store by Lopez, his brother and uncle.

Sentencing is scheduled for Thursday. First-degree murder carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole.

The victim and Lopez, according to testimony, had a long history of bad blood. But the confrontation at the convenience store appears to have started as a chance encounter.

Lopez's brother and uncle have previously been convicted.
