Man Held On Bail In June Pedestrian Deaths

An Allston man is being held on $10,000 bail after his arraignment Monday on charges related to an accident in the Back Bay that killed two people.

Prosecutors say 30-year-old Mohamed Alfageeh ran a red light on Beacon Street in June, hit another car and flipped his SUV.

The vehicle struck and killed Jessica Campbell, 27, and John Lanzillotti, 28, as they stood waiting to cross the street,

Alfageeh's wife, Ghuzlan Alghazali, was originally charged with the deaths, but prosecutors later dropped charges because there was some confusion over who was driving.

Authorities say Alfageeh's vehicle ran a red light, hit another vehicle then flipped and slid into Campbell and Lanzillotti, both of Brookline.

Alfageeh's attorney requested that his client be released on personal recognizance.

Alfageeh has stayed in the area and supports his wife and four children as the part-owner of a convenience store, John Seed said.

Alfageeh is due back in court Sept. 22.
