Forecast: Rainy Across The U.S., But Sunny And Dry In New England

The dry and sunny weather continues Wednesday as high pressure keeps southern New England under it's influence. While there is dry weather here, there is rain not far away. The map above shows how much rain will likely fall through Wednesday evening. Notice there is up to half-an-inch of rain over New York. This rain will not get to New England although there could be sprinkles well west of Route 91.

Instead, we are left with sunshine and a lack of rain. This lack of rain means you should be watering any newly planted things in the garden.

The nice stretch of weather continues into the start of the weekend, but it will not be warm. A wind off the water will keep it cooler than you might expect and like this time of the year. This persistent easterly wind will have to be watched this weekend as it could bring more clouds than sunshine to the area later in the weekend.

Notice in my forecast after Wednesday there is the word clouds in my forecast. This is because the systems to the west and east will be just close enough to bring cloudiness and not allow full sunshine like we saw Tuesday. You'll notice the clouds for sure at the end of the week.

Finally, ragweed and other late summer plants are putting pollen in the air right now, so your allergies might be bothering you.

Today: Any early fog burns away to sunshine. Warm with highs near 80 and cooler temperatures expected at the beaches.

Overnight: Mostly clear, with a low in the mid 50s.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, cooler at the coast. Highs 72 to 75 with warmer temperatures expected inland.

Friday: Clouds and sunshine, with a high in the mid 70s.

Saturday: A blend of clouds and sunshine. Highs in the lower 70s.

Sunday: Clouds and sunny periods with highs around 71 to 76.
