Forecast: Breezy Weather With Highs In The 70s

Let's go right to the bottom line about the Labor Day weekend: It’s not going to be a washout or anything close. There is the chance of showers, especially very late Sunday and Monday, but in general much of the weekend will be dry.

Wednesday night we had a cold front pass the region. You will notice the air feels different Thursday — it’s drier and it’s not going to be as warm. Wednesday, Boston did reach 90 for only the fifth time this summer and the first time this August.

High pressure will remain in control the next several days and bring abundant sunshine with highs in the 70s. The pleasant air will last several days, with Thursday highs in the upper 70s, but wind off the water will keep readings a bit cooler by the shore.

The nights are going to be very comfortable Thursday through Saturday, but with more humidity and warmer readings it won’t be as pleasant over the rest of the weekend.

The showers should be heaviest on Monday, but even that day won’t feature widespread rain. Sunday may actually turn out to be a pretty nice day for the beach, especially over Cape Cod.

Speaking of the beaches, as hurricane Cristobal passes well offshore, but makes its closet pass to us, big swells and rip currents will be prevalent Thursday. If you are headed to the beach please heed local warnings.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, a bit breezy and drier. Highs the in the upper 70s.

Thursday night: Mostly clear, with a low in the mid 50s.

Friday: Sunny and pleasant. Highs in the lower 70s at the immediate shore to mid 70s inland.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high in the upper 70s.

Sunday: A blend of clouds and sunshine. Warm and humid with temperatures in the mid 80s.

Labor Day: Lots of clouds with a chance of showers and highs in the lower 80s.
