More Than 8,500 To Participate In Jimmy Fund Walk

More than 8,500 people, including cancer patients, survivors, and family members, are scheduled to participate in this weekend's walk along the route of the Boston Marathon.

The goal is to raise more than $7.5 million to fund lifesaving adult and pediatric patient care and cancer research for all types of cancer at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund.

This year's event will bring the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk's 26-year fundraising total to more than $100 million.

Sunday's participants don't have to walk the entire 26.2 miles. It has four starting locations: Center School in Hopkinton; Wellesley High School; Boston College in Chestnut Hill; and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's campus in the Longwood Medical Area. Finish line is Copley Square, Boston.
