Patriotic Flags Stolen From Cape Cod Overpass

Several U.S. and military flags hung on a Cape Cod overpass ahead of a Wounded Warrior Project bicycle ride this weekend have been stolen, outraging some residents.

The flags were put up Saturday on the overpass that carries Route 124 over U.S. Route 6 in Harwich.

Three U.S. flags and a Navy SEAL, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and POW flag were stolen.

Leah Elliott helped out the flags in place. She tells the Cape Cod Times she's "absolutely crushed."

She says she first noticed that some of the flags were missing Tuesday. They were replaced, but more went missing Wednesday.

She called police. Sgt. Kevin Considine says there are no surveillance cameras in the area so investigators are relying on tips from the public.
