BU Student Arrested For Allegedly Driving 100 MPH In Boston

Prosecutors say a 19-year-old Boston University student has been charged with driving his Maserati an estimated 100 miles per hour through Boston's Back Bay area.

Zeguang Xu was released on $1,000 bail Thursday after pleading not guilty to charges including speeding, driving without a license and giving a false name to police.

Prosecutors said police saw the blue Maserati GranTurismo speeding on Beacon Street Wednesday afternoon in a densely populated area where the speed limit is 30 mph. Police said the driver ran a red light before they caught up with him.

Police said Xu first told them the car belonged to a friend and gave them another person's name, but they discovered it was his car and he was driving without a license.

Xu's attorney declined to comment.
