UMass President Caret Launches Statewide Bus Tour
In what's become an annual tradition, University of Massachusetts President Robert Caret is launching a statewide bus tour to highlight the impact and contributions of the five-campus system on the state.
The tour begins Tuesday in Boston and Haverhill. Caret is scheduled to attend UMass-Boston 50th anniversary celebrations and visit the site of UMass-Lowell's satellite campus in Haverhill.
The tour continues Wednesday in Lowell, Fall River, New Bedford and Springfield, and includes visits to businesses started by UMass graduates and a reception at the UMass Center in Springfield.
The tour wraps up Thursday in Amherst and Worcester with visits to research centers and a roundtable discussion on student debt and college affordability.
Caret says UMass plays a critical role in the social, cultural and economic life of Massachusetts.
