Bristol DA Considers Run For Fall River Mayor

Bristol District Attorney Sam Sutter has joined the growing field of people considering running for mayor of Fall River.

Sutter on Thursday pulled nomination papers.

Current Mayor Will Flanagan is facing a recall effort. Flanagan once worked as a prosecutor in the district attorney's office.

Sutter is the 13th person to take out nomination papers.

He issued a statement saying that he will await the outcome of court proceedings related to the recall effort before making a final decision on whether to run.

The district attorney says Fall River is in "turmoil" and that "managerial competence, integrity and civility need to be restored" to the city.

Sutter previously ran unsuccessfully for Congress and considered a run for state attorney general.
