Victim Of Brockton Hit-And-Run Dies

A Randolph woman seriously injured when she was struck by a vehicle in Brockton that then drove from the scene has died.

Police say 26-year-old Amy Laycob died late last week, two days after she was struck.

She had been taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston in critical condition following the crash and had been in a surgical intensive care unit since her arrival.

The alleged driver of the vehicle that struck Laycob was quickly apprehended because a witness took down her license plate number. The 53-year-old Brockton woman was released on bail after pleading not guilty to charges including drunken driving leaving the scene of a personal injury accident.

Police tell The Enterprise they will be reviewing the charges.
