Authorities have released the name of the Lowell man struck and killed by a vehicle while crossing a city street.

A spokesman for the Middlesex district attorney's office says 79-year-old Gerard Geoffroy was struck at about 6 a.m. Tuesday as he tried to cross Route 113.

The Sun reports that the driver was identified as 69-year-old Donald Jutras.

The death came about 12 hours after a 60-year-old man suffered a serious head injury in another crash involving a pedestrian.
