Cops: Easthampton Teen Vowed To Shoot Up School

A teenage girl in western Massachusetts has been placed under house arrest after police say she threatened to "shoot up" her school.

Authorities say they arrested 18-year-old Tarryn LaValley after fellow students at Easthampton High School told a parent that LaValley made the threat in a classroom last Tuesday.

The Daily Hampshire Gazette reports that LaValley pleaded not guilty to two counts of threatening to commit a murder and one count of placing a bomb threat on Friday in Northampton District Court. She's under house arrest pending a dangerousness hearing on Monday.

LaValley's lawyer, Alan Rubin, says holding her without bail is unfair and the police investigation was flawed. He says police didn't talk with staff members and the allegations are based on gossip by other students.
