All Aboard! North Pole Train To Depart South Station

All aboard for the North Pole.

The North Pole Express train is set to roll out of Boston's South Station on Saturday - an annual ride that hosts 600 poor children and their families.

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority says youngsters and their parents or guardians from across Boston will board the special commuter rail train at 4 p.m. Once aboard, they'll be served hot chocolate and sweets, and be treated to a reading of the popular Chris Van Allsburg children's story "The Polar Express."

Santa Claus will greet them when they reach the North Pole, otherwise known as the Weymouth Landing stop on the MBTA's Greenbush Line.
