Keith Williams, 18, was arraigned in Suffolk Superior Court Monday on a first-degree murder charge for the August 23 shooting death of 26-year-old Dawnn Jaffier.

Jaffier was at Boston’s J’ouvert Parade when Williams allegedly shot her in the head. Police say Jaffier was an innocent bystander and that Williams was aiming for a rival.

Williams has been held without bail since pleading not guilty in his district court arraignment in August.

Jaffier was born and raised in Brighton and, as WBUR's Delores Handy reported in August, was a fixture at the West End House Boys and Girls Club in Allston for more than half of life.

The UMass Amherst grad was also a popular figure at the Hennigan School in Jamaica Plain, where she was an AmeriCorps health and fitness instructor. She had planned a career in youth development and has been remembered as someone who wanted to give back by working in the kinds of programs that helped shape her life.
