Elderly Uncle Of Deputy Fire Chief Dies In Revere Blaze

A deputy fire chief says he rescued his uncle from an early morning house blaze in Revere, but his other uncle was found dead.

Revere Deputy Fire Chief Chris Bright told media outlets that his uncle, Dennis Toomey, who was in his 80s, died in the fire on Friday morning. Bright says he and other firefighters rescued his other uncle, Robert Toomey.

Authorities say the fire doesn't appear to have been an arson, but the cause remains under investigation. Fire officials say other occupants of the home are all accounted for.

Firefighters were called to the blaze at about 5:45 a.m. Officials say the firefighting effort was difficult because temperatures were well below freezing and fire hydrants were still buried under snow.
