18-Year-Old Boston Man Faces Murder Charge

An 18-year-old Boston man faces murder and other charges after a fatal shooting in the city's Jamaica Plain neighborhood.

Police say a man in his 20s was killed at about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

A Boston police officer working nearby saw two men fleeing the scene and gave pursuit on foot. The officer was fired upon several times by a suspect, but was not struck.

The victim was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. His name was not released.

The suspect was identified by police as Josiah Zachery of Hyde Park. It's not clear when he'll be arraigned or if he has a lawyer.

The victim was part of a group called Roca, which helps at-risk young people by providing work. The organization says it is cooperating with police.
