State Police Say Multi-Car Crash Closes I-95 West Of Boston
About 20 vehicles slammed into one another during a snow squall Sunday afternoon in a pileup that temporarily closed southbound Interstate 95 west of Boston, state police said.
The crash happened at about 3 p.m. near exit 27 in Waltham. Several people incurred minor injuries.
State police said the highway's left travel lane was reopened at around 4 p.m.
People were advised to avoid the area, and traffic was diverted at Trapelo Road as emergency crews work to help the injured and clear debris.
Police said a snow squall may have contributed to the crash. The road had been plowed but authorities had warned of blowing snow.
