Fitchburg Woman Dies After Being Hit By Snowplow

A 21-year-old Fitchburg woman has died of injuries she sustained when she was hit by a snowplow as she walked home from work Friday night.

The Telegram & Gazette of Worcester reports the Worcester district attorney's office confirmed Elizabeth Jean Hill died late Saturday at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.

Police said Hill was walking on the side of the street when she was struck at about 6:30 p.m. by a five-ton plow truck owned by a private contractor. Police said the driver wasn't plowing at the time. The accident is still being investigated and no charges have been filed.

Brennan Sluet, a manager at the Market Basket grocery where Hill worked, said co-workers are heartbroken. He said the Mount Wachusett Community College student had worked at Market Basket since 2011.
