Forecast: Sunny, Pleasant, Little Chance Of Showers

After a cool comfortable night, we have a really nice day on the way. Highs this afternoon will reach near the 70-degree mark, with light winds. If you can take off a few hours early from work, it would be a good evening for a round of golf, a run, or even a game of softball. Even if you can’t get home until after 7 p.m., there will still be over an hour of light to enjoy at the end of the day.

There will be a weak system passing over the region tonight and early tomorrow, bringing a period of clouds. I didn’t mention showers in the details of the forecast because the chance is so small. Chances are not absolute zero, so you could still see a light shower overnight. Tomorrow won’t be quite as sunny as today, and with more in the way of clouds it won’t feel quite as warm either. As a front passes Friday night and early Saturday, more clouds will continue, but any rain will be light or not at all.

The bulk of the weekend looks seasonable, with plenty of sunshine in the second half of Saturday and all day Sunday. The days will be even warmer next week, with highs into the 70s. Another chance of rain occurs Monday night or Tuesday as our next cold front passes. By then it will have been nearly a week without significant rain so a few showers will actually be good.

Weekend Details: The first weekend in June means lots of graduations, proms and even college reunions. No matter where you are in New England, the weather looks good this weekend.

Interior Northern New England: For those of you headed to northern New England the weather looks particularly nice over the lakes and mountains. Highs there will be in the lower and middle 70s with sunset around 8:15 p.m.

Coastal Northern New England: Along the seacoast of New Hampshire and up the coast to Maine it will be a a bit cooler in the afternoon with some sea breezes. For example, the mid-coast of Maine on Sunday will be in the lower to middle 60s.

Cape Cod and the Islands: Clouds will mix with sunshine Saturday and temperatures will reach the 60s. Look for more sunshine on Sunday with readings in the afternoon a couple of degrees cooler than the day before.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high 65-70.

Thursday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low 46-53.

Friday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 70.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high in the lower 70s.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 70.

Monday: Increasingly cloudy highs in the lower 70s, late day showers possible.
