Salem Police Shoot Knife-Wielding Stabbing Suspect
Authorities say Salem police shot a 21-year-old stabbing suspect who came at officers with a knife.
Police say Brock Fleming was shot in the buttocks at about 5 a.m. Tuesday by police who were looking for him for allegedly stabbing another man.
Fleming was taken to a hospital for surgery and is expected to survive.
Police found a 34-year-old man with stab wounds to his left forearm and neck area at about 1:45 a.m. Tuesday. That man told police that Fleming had stabbed him.
Fleming was charged with assault with intent to murder in connection with the stabbing and assault by means of a dangerous weapon for the confrontation with police. It's not clear if he has a lawyer.
The officers' names were not made public. Both incidents remain under investigation.
