Forecast: Sunny, High In The Lower 80s

Fine summer weather continues today with highs in the lower 80s and with low humidity. If you are taking an early vacation this week, it’s looking just great through Friday. Although you might hear about the chance of showers tomorrow, I think the chances are very small. Thursday’s high in some inland areas will near 90 degrees.

The humidity yesterday got rather uncomfortable in the afternoon for some of you, but won’t reach very high levels the rest of the workweek.  On Saturday, ahead of a cold front, it will become somewhat humid. There will also be clouds and the chance of a period of showers during the middle of the day. I don’t expect a washout at all.

The sun is exponentially more intense than it was during the winter, so being outside from 11 in the morning until around 4 in the afternoon means you will need some form of sun protection. On cloudless days like today, shade is quite difficult to find.

After a cool start to the month, we have made a big transition into a summer pattern. This means the chance of rain comes from scattered showers and not all-day rain events.

As a front passes through Saturday, drier but still seasonably warm air will take over for Sunday — if you only have one day to be outside this weekend, make it Sunday. As a side note, many U-Pick farms are starting strawberry picking this weekend. Be sure to call ahead.
