Forecast: Mostly Sunny, Warm Weekend Ahead

Although some of you had a heavy rain shower a couple of days ago, the drought we have been in for several weeks is getting worse. We need rain and I don’t see any widespread rain on the horizon. As a matter of fact with temperatures well above average the next three days, the ground will continue to get dry. It’s a good idea to water your containers and other plants regularly during times when we don’t have any rain from Mother Nature.

Weekend Forecast

This weekend will be a good one for most outdoor activities. There are showers in the forecast Saturday, but the reality is they will be far and few between.  Sunday is the better of the two weekend days because there isn’t a chance of rain and there will be more sunshine.

If you have outdoor plans on Saturday I wouldn’t cancel them.  While showers and storms are possible, if you get one it won’t last long and there is a better than even chance you don’t see anything.

Northern New England

On Saturday any showers and storms that do form should be over between 1 and 4 PM.  This means the greatest risk of any showers is during the morning with improving conditions in the afternoon.  Highs will be in the upper 70s to near 80F.

Sunday is a stellar day with highs in the 70s and abundant sunshine.

Beach goers will find water temperatures in the upper 50s to lower 60s this time of year.  High tide occurs mid to late morning.  Sunset this weekend is after 8:10 PM across all of New England and sunrise is before 5 am in many sections of Maine.

Cape Cod/Islands

Saturday will bring a blend of clouds and sunshine with somewhat muggy air.  A few showers could cross the area in the early to mid-afternoon time frame.  Highs will be in the 70s, but upper 60s on the islands.  Sunday we can enjoy more in the way of sunshine and no chance of rain.

Summary

This weekend is looking great for all outdoor activities.  While you will need to be aware of some showers Saturday the day isn’t a washout by any means.  Sunday is the sunniest day of the weekend.  Highs will be near 80 degrees Saturday, cooler along the coast and in the 70s on Sunday.
