Forecast: Rainy And Cool With Highs Around 60

I hope you had a great weekend. The weather was certainly cooperative and temperatures and humidity levels remained in check. You’ve likely been reading my complaining about the lack of rain this spring, but we are going to see some rain today.

Depending on when you are reading this, it might already be raining, and, the later in the morning you commute into Boston, the better chance you will have for the rain to be slowing down your drive.

The good news for commuters is that the evening commute should occur after the steadiest and heaviest of the rain has moved past the area.

It’s going to be very cool for mid-June today with highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s. This is 10 to 15 degrees below the long-term averages, and, while not as cool as those first two days in June, it’s still quite noteworthy.

If you like heat, you will need to go south this week. Over the weekend the Washington, D.C., area sweltered in 90-plus degree heat, but the upper patter cut this off at the pass and kept it from getting here.

Since the system bringing us the rain is moving quickly, the rain will taper to showers later Monday afternoon and evening. There is a Red Sox Game this evening and my current thinking is that it will be played, but the field will likely be wet.

You’ll want to dress for an early-season game as there might be some light shower activity or drizzle in the air. The air will feel raw and cool throughout the game.

Improvement comes tomorrow, but I’ll leave the chance for a shower in the forecast. It will be warmer with highs in the 70s. Wednesday is my pick for the week, although Thursday and Friday aren’t bad — we just have a chance of a showers .Thursday and Friday are far enough in the future I don’t want to make it a pick five days away.

Texas is going to get more rain this week from a tropical system. Eventually this system might make it into New England. This could occur later this upcoming weekend. I’ll have much more in the days ahead. Please follow my forecasts here and on Twitter. Enjoy the evening and have a great Monday

Monday: Cool with showers, especially before the evening. Highs only around 60 degrees.

Monday night: A few early showers or some drizzle. Otherwise cloudy and cool. Lows in the 50s.

Tuesday: Warmer and more humid. Highs in the lower 80s. Chance of afternoon thunderstorm.

Wednesday: Sunny with a high in the upper 70s.

Thursday: Changeable skies and a chance of showers. Highs in the 70s.

Friday: Mostly sunny with a high of 75 to 80.
