Forecast: Scattered Storms Still Possible This Afternoon

What a fantastic day it was on Tuesday. The good news is we have more fine weather on the way; however, we need to get through a fairly unsettled day today.

Parts of the morning commute, especially southwest of Boston, will be impacted by showers and embedded thunderstorms. With so much moisture in the air, some of the showers could contain some torrential rain, which is a recipe for a slow drive wherever you are headed.

The best chance for rain is from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. with scattered storms after that in the afternoon. The morning rain is more general as the afternoon storms are more scattered.

For this morning, the earlier in the morning you leave for work, the better. The one thing we have on the positive side is that there is a significant percentage of people on vacation and schools are out.

The reason for the unsettled weather is a one-two punch from a warm front and a cold front that will both bring showers and storms.

It’s not out of the question whether you could see an inch or even two of rain, especially if you are hit by multiple storms. However, most areas will see less rain than that.

The humidity is going to be high today with dew points in the 60s. This means although it won’t be very hot, it can feel uncomfortable.

High pressure slowly builds into the area for the end of the weekend and should take us right through the entire holiday weekend. Unlike the hurricane we had pass close by last year, this year’s July 4th is looking very good.

Today: Morning showers and thunderstorms followed by another chance of widely scattered storms in the afternoon. Humid, with highs in the upper 70s to near 80.

Tonight: Showers ending with late night clearing. Lows in the low to mid 60s

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high in the upper 70s.

Friday: Partly sunny, with a high 78-82.

Saturday (July 4): Partly sunny, with highs 77-84.

Sunday: Sunny to partly sunny. Highs in the 80s.
