Mother Who Kidnapped Her Children From Dad's Apartment Due In Court

A woman accused of kidnapping her two young children and triggering an Amber Alert in Massachusetts is headed for court.

Police say 33-year-old Bruna Gomes was arrested on Cape Cod Thursday several hours after she took the children from the Abington apartment of her children's father.

Authorities say she knocked on the door, announced that she was a police officer and allegedly pepper sprayed the children's caretaker.

Authorities activated an amber alert at around 3 p.m.

A hotel owner in West Yarmouth called police about a half-hour later and told them Gomes had checked in with the children.

Police say the two children were later reunited with their father.

Gomes is scheduled to be arraigned Friday on parental kidnapping and home invasion charges.
