Forecast: A Mixed Weather Weekend With Sun Saturday, Showers Sunday

There will be a lot of clouds Friday even after the showers end in the morning. Most areas got a healthy dose of rain Thursday night, though parts of the area west of Boston saw only a quarter to half inch of rain. The heaviest rain fell along the south coast and parts of Cape Cod where over three inches of rain was more common.

The front and low pressure area responsible for the wet weather will slowly move east during the day Friday. This means any showers or drizzle this morning will end. Temperatures and humidity will be much lower than the past few days.

Saturday is the pick of the weekend with plenty of sunshine and pleasantly warm temperatures. It will also be quite dry in terms of humidity. I expect some clouds to show up later in the evening.

Sunday won’t be a washout, but it’s not a beach day either. A period of showers or even some steady rain is likely by the end of the day or overnight. This will bring more rain to the area. The highest totals should be west of Route 495, but even in Boston some rain is likely.

The wet weather leaves on Monday and that is likely our last chance for rain for at least another week. Temperatures and humidity will be climbing once again and we could reach 10 degrees above average by the middle of next week. I would not be surprised if some new record warmth is part of the forecast by later next week. The long-range forecasts continue the warm weather through much of October.
