Forecast: Some Showers Friday Before Cool But Nice Holiday Weekend

A cold front to the west Friday morning is bringing more clouds and eventually some showers to the area. This is really our only weather over the next four days. It will be Tuesday before there is again a chance of showers.

Friday's rain won’t amount to very much and it won’t last long. There could be a few downpours though. While there could be some showers during the day, I think most of the showers will occur late afternoon and then continue until late evening. If you are traveling north after work, you should plan on driving on wet roads.

Temperatures will be warm Friday reaching near 70 in the afternoon.  Winds will be brisk from the south and southwest helping to transport this milder and moister air into the region.

Saturday brings back cooler and drier air. Highs will only reach the 50s and some of the northern mountains may stay in the 40s. If you are going camping, it’s going to be quite chilly on Sunday morning.

We have not had a serious frost in southern New England yet, some areas may see a hard frost Sunday morning so you might want to cover plants and bring in some of the more tender plants.

Sunday and Monday bring a return flow of milder air. By Monday, it’s back to the lower 70s and this year’s Columbus Day will be one of the nicest possible for mid-October.

Have a great weekend.
