Forecast: Cloudy And Another Mild Day Before Cold Front Approaches

Wasn't Columbus Day just an amazing holiday, weather-wise?

I was enjoying some kayaking in the afternoon and felt giddy about how stunning the weather was. As we all know, this can’t and shouldn’t last. We live in New England, and it’s supposed to get colder throughout October. And that is exactly what’s about to happen.

As a reminder, you have about four more days to get tender plants ready to bring inside. I do feel very confident in a killing frost or freeze this weekend. The exact low temperatures are still questionable later this week, but there is no doubt it will be the coldest air of the season.

This morning we find a low pressure to the south of Nantucket. Any rain this morning will be ending over Cape Cod and the Islands followed by drier air this afternoon.

I don’t expect much in the way of sunshine this afternoon, but there could be some to the north.

Wednesday will still be mild, but cooler. Look for more in the way of sunshine. A cold front comes through at the end of the week, ushering in the start of the chillier air. The cold will come in pieces, bringing with it some wind, too. The wind could be quite strong this weekend, which could create issues, as there are still leaves on the trees.

Today: Mild with any showers ending. Remaining mostly cloudy, some sun north. Highs in the lower 70s.

Tonight: Lots of clouds and comfortable. Lows in the lower 50s.

Wednesday: Partly sunny, with a high in the mid 60s.

Wednesday night: Partly cloudy, with lows in the lower 40s.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 60.

Friday: Blend of clouds and sunshine, highs in the upper 50s. A shower possible.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 55.
