Officials: Multiple Injuries After Wheelchair Van Crash In Kingston

Fire officials say six people, including four who use wheelchairs, had to be extricated from a van after a serious crash with a pickup truck in southeastern Massachusetts.

Fire officials say both drivers and four wheelchair-bound occupants became trapped after the pickup truck collided head-on with a Habilitation Resources van Wednesday in Kingston.

Deputy Fire Chief Mark Douglas tells The Patriot Ledger two were taken to South Shore Hospital with serious injuries and two were taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth with less serious injuries.

The driver of the pickup was evaluated at South Shore Hospital.

Kingston Fire officials tell NECN that a cause is known but will not be released until later.

Authorities said Wednesday evening they could not release the names of those involved.
