Remains Found Belong To Man Missing Since New Year's 2014

Authorities say the human skeletal remains found last weekend by a hunter in a wooded area of Upton are those of an Avon man kidnapped two years ago.

The Worcester district attorney's office confirmed Wednesday that the remains found Sunday are those of 37-year-old James Robertson. Avon and Upton are about 30 miles apart.

Police say two men with guns and badges posing as constables kidnapped Robertson from his parents' home on Jan. 1, 2014, under the guise of a surprise probation-related drug test.

Those two, as well as a third man, are being held on kidnapping charges. A Dedham police officer faces accessory charges for allegedly lending the men his badge and handcuffs.

Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey said it's too early to determine whether charges will be upgraded.
