Forecast: One Chance Of Showers Before The Long Holiday Weekend

A cold front crept ever so slowly through the region overnight, and now we can enjoy much more comfortable levels of humidity.

A westerly flow of air means very warm readings this afternoon with temperatures well into the 80s and a few backyard thermometers will register 90 around 2 or 3 p.m. for a short time.

Tonight will be relatively comfortable for sleeping, but temperatures will take a while to fall to their lows. So the first part of the evening will be quite warm.

On Friday a cold front approaches and brings a renewed chance for showers and storms in the afternoon and evening. It could be that some of the storms become quite strong, but not all of us will see them. And some will miss the rain entirely. The drought continues for most of the region.

The holiday weekend is looking very nice with a seasonable day on Saturday along with a mix of clouds and sunshine.  Sunday and Independence Day featuring fine beach weather with low humidity and readings into the 80s.
