Forecast: Not Much Sunshine For Thanksgiving, But Not Much Precipitation Either

First things first this morning, Happy Thanksgiving. I hope this is a day you enjoy with friends, family or even alone. There are so few days we get to actually take a break from the hubbub of the world, I hope this is one of them for you.

Our weather isn't great, but it's not that bad either. Precipitation is not a problem this morning. There may be some mist in the air, but it's basically dry. The freezing line is forecast to move north and west this morning meaning the threat of freezing drizzle is slim to none, good news! Notice on the loop below the air that is below freezing, (blue) disappearing throughout the day as temperatures warm above the melting point.

The rest of the this weekend remains not only unsettled, but a bit of a forecast challenge. Tomorrow we are between today's weather system and a new one for late Friday night and Saturday. This time a storm will form off the New England coastline and perhaps bring a period of rain. The highest likelihood of rain is Saturday morning and then the rain chance lowers in the afternoon. I am not expecting a lot of rainfall, but areas closest to the coast could see upwards of a tenth of an inch.

Rainfall this month has been significantly below average, leading us deeper into the drought, and I remain concerned about what this could mean for the coming spring, but lets see how the winter turns out first.

On Sunday, the storm will move into the Gulf of Maine and beyond. Clouds will linger, but that's about it.

Things turn quiet next week for a few days with a warming trend. Enjoy the holiday.
