5-Year-Old Boy Is Shot In Roxbury

Boston police say a 5-year-old boy shot in the lower back in Roxbury Sunday night is in stable condition and is expected to survive.

Boston Police Commissioner William Evans said it's believed the boy's father was the intended target.

The shooting took place at the intersection of Copeland and Warren streets at about 9:30 p.m., when the boy and his father were leaving their house, police said.

There have been no arrests, but police say they are looking for a silver vehicle with two young men in the 18 to 20 age range inside that was seen leaving the area after the shooting.

Mayor Marty Walsh called the shooting a "cowardly act."
