Forecast: Cold And Dry Thursday

Wednesday's storm is now over and sunshine is back in the picture. Although there's no precipitation this morning, the cold temperatures combined with moisture has left some walkways and roadways quite slippery. You'll definitely want to take it slowly as you walk around this morning on untreated surfaces.

This afternoon, temperatures will not warm up very much. They'll stay just under the freezing mark, which is about 5 degrees below average for this time of year. I'm not expecting much in the way of wind today. Due to the stronger February sunshine, south-facing areas will see some melting despite the cold readings.

The next few days will feature several small weather events that will move through or near New England. The first of these comes Friday night when there will be just a chance of a little bit of snow. Whatever falls would change over to rain on Saturday, and the rain won't amount to very much either. There's another system for Sunday which brings a renewed chance for showers.

If you are headed to northern New England this weekend, some of the rain could be freezing rain. So just be aware of changing conditions. Skiing should be quite good as most northern New England ski areas saw anywhere from 5 to 10 inches of snow Wednesday.

I don't see any extended periods of cold or major snowstorms for the next 10 days. This can, of course, always change. But right now, the weather pattern doesn't look like any severe weather is headed our way.
