State Trooper Accused Of Racist Remarks Suspended Without Pay

State Police say they have ordered a state trooper accused of making racist remarks online indefinitely suspended without pay.

The comments allegedly posted by Matthew Sheehan came to light in a Boston Globe report after his involvement in the alleged shooting of an ATV rider on Interstate 93 last weekend.

In a statement, Dave Procopio, communications director for Massachusetts State Police, said "the tone and content of the posts in question are offensive and are contrary to the standards of conduct expected by the State Police of its members."

An Internal Affairs investigation to determine whether Sheehan authored the racist posts on an online forum is ongoing.
