Forecast: Two Rounds Of Rain Ahead

Yesterday's snow is now over and we are looking at another weather system for later today and Wednesday. This morning's commute will be taking place under thickening clouds but I don't expect any precipitation.

A warm front is approaching from the south and as this boundary gets closer, rain will overspread the area this afternoon and evening. Depending on what time you leave work, it might be raining on your ride home. A small pocket of freezing rain over northern Worcester County and back to the Berkshires can't be ruled out, but basically this is not a winter weather maker.

The rain will continue throughout the first part of the overnight and there could be anywhere from a quarter to three-quarter of an inch of rainfall.

Temperatures will be chilly today staying in the lower and mid-40s. The actual frontal boundary will not move far enough to our north tonight to allow the mild air to overspread the region. Instead, we will have to wait until tomorrow when the warm front does move to our north and temperatures finally will get into the 50s to even lower 60s.

I can't rule out a few showers during the first part of tomorrow, but the bulk of the shower activity will wait until the second half of the afternoon when a cold front moves east. The atmosphere is right for the possibility of some thunderstorms with this system and this is something we'll be keeping an eye on for Wednesday afternoon.

Behind this front it turns drier and colder for Thursday, with plenty of sunshine and temperatures in the mid-40s. There could be some additional rain or snow showers on Friday but right now the weekend is looking seasonably chilly, but dry.
