Forecast: Nice Weather For The Week

The long holiday weekend is now behind us, and for many of you, the big swings in the weather are probably not something you want to repeat.

With sunshine and warm temperatures, we can put Friday and Saturday down as weather wins. But, Sunday and Monday, which were much colder, were certainly not ideal days to cap off the long weekend.

It's a four-day work week. Today and tomorrow are probably the best days of the next six or seven. I don't want to get too pessimistic about the weekend just yet. It's only Tuesday, after all. But, the trend is definitely for cooler conditions, and there will be the chance for rainfall.

The rain isn't a sure thing. As remnants of subtropical storm Alberto move up into the center of the country, the upper-level flow will undergo some transition, and any deviation from what the models are now predicting means Saturday and Sunday could turn out to be alright.

Today will turn out mostly sunny with temperatures well into the 80s — even in Boston. It will be cooler over parts of the Cape and the Islands. Temperatures there will be in the 60s and 70s.

Humidity levels will be a little bit higher, but not excessively so, and I really don't see a muggy air mass until we get to Friday. We'll then have to watch for showers and clouds, as well as how long they're expected to last. Until then, enjoy the nice weather.

If this keeps up maybe we should change the weekend to Tuesday and Wednesday and all start working Saturday and Sunday.

Tuesday: Becoming sunny and warm. Highs 80-87. A few spots near 90 in the Merrimack Valley. 70s at the Cape.

Tuesday Night: Mainly clear and comfortable. Lows 54-59.

Wednesday: Sunny and pleasant. Highs 75-80.

Thursday: Sun and clouds. Highs 78-83. Cooler Cape Ann/Cape Cod.

Friday: Clouds, some sun, muggy. Highs in the lower 80s.

Saturday: Cooler and a lot of clouds. Could be showers. Highs in the 60s.
