Forecast: Tropical Air, Humidity Coming Back

Temperatures over the next several days will continue to be warmer than average and it's actually going to become even warmer as we head toward the end of the week and the weekend.

Along with warm temperatures, the humidity will be rising and that same tropical air mass that we had last week is coming back. Today is the last day for a while that will be reasonably comfortable in terms of humidity. It's not going to be dry Canadian air, but it won't be that oppressive humidity either.

We will start with a lot of sunshine, and clouds will increase as a warm front moves northward. This is the divide between the typically-humid air and the less typical Caribbean dew points that are coming for the rest of the week.

As this warm front grows closer clouds will tend to increase so the sun may fade a bit this afternoon. I'm not expecting any precipitation — it's not that type of weather system.

The extreme dew points that are coming on Wednesday are going to remain with us for seven to 10 days. I don't want to start predicting when the humidity is going to break because I think many of us are going to be really tired of it and don't want to get people's hopes up about the ending just yet.

Along with the higher humidity, temperatures are going to approach 90 degrees for several days towards the end of the week and the weekend. If you are on Cape Cod and the Islands you can take off about 5-10 degrees; however, the moisture in the air will be as high as anywhere in the area.

The chance of showers starts increasing in the middle of the week, but the greatest likelihood is going to be over inland areas. This doesn't mean the Boston won't see a shower between now and Sunday but I don't think it'll last very long if we do get one. It's going to be tough to do much outside over the coming week. Let call it #dogdays.
