Several Employees Injured During Fire At Acton Manufacturing Plant

Several people have been injured during a fire at a manufacturing company in Massachusetts.

Fire officials responded to the Haartz Corporation building in Acton shortly before 10:30 a.m. for reports of an explosion with injuries.

An unnamed plant employee was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital with severe burns.

Authorities say another five people were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

Haartz Corp. makes automobile products, including materials with vinyl and plastics. The company says it is working to get details about the injured individuals. The company tweeted "safety is our first priority."

According to Occupational Safety and Health Administration records, the company had three safety-related incidences in the past five years.

OSHA officials have responded to the scene, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
