1 Dead, 1 Injured After Hanson Plane Crash

A 34-year-old man was killed after the plane he was flying crashed in Hanson on Friday afternoon, the Plymouth County District Attorney's office said in a statement.

Scott Landis, of Hanson, was piloting the single-propeller plane also carrying his 29-year-old brother Patrick Landis when it crash-landed in a pond near Cranland Airport.

A man walking his dog nearby saw the plane partially submerged in water and called 911. Officials took the Landis brothers to hospitals.

Scott Landis was airlifted to Massachusetts General Hospital and later died as a result of injuries, according to the statement. His brother remains in treatment for injuries at Tufts Medical Center.

The Federal Aviation Administration, Massachusetts Department of Transportation Aeronautical Division and state and local police are investigating the crash.
